Dr Josh Hann
Josh grew up in Adelaide where he completed a science degree before attaining his medical degree at the University of Sydney. He did elective work in remote Papua New Guinea, where he later returned to provide outreach work and train young ophthalmologists. Josh gained experience in several medical specialities across hospitals in South East Queensland, which paved the way for his formal ophthalmology training and fellowship (FRANZCO).
With a focus on anterior segment and corneal disease, Josh honed his skills through specialised training in corneal transplant techniques in the Netherlands and India. Josh also trained in laser refractive surgery and invested in the latest technology so he could offer convenient access to laser eye treatments for local patients.
After establishing Eastside Eye Care in Carindale in late 2017, Josh was joined by senior ophthalmologist Dr John Dyer, who recently retired. Doctors Anthony Fong, Andrew Dorman and Ryan Nugent now work alongside Josh to ensure the Carindale community has access to local, comprehensive ophthalmic care.
In addition to his private work, Josh works at Rockhampton Base Hospital and provides outreach services in Cape York communities, based in Weipa. As the director of the Princess Alexandra Ophthalmology Department, he plays a crucial role as an anterior segment/corneal specialist.
A long-time resident of Camp Hill, Josh loves spending time with his wife, two daughters and son. He runs to stay active and plays the violin and piano. When he has the opportunity, Josh loves to travel.
